Trial to Accept Foreign Tourists in June!? (Update: May 17,2022)

Government Plans

Tourism demonstration project to start early next month, announced by the end of the week to ease the waterfront – government coordination.
In preparation for the resumption of acceptance of foreign tourists, which has not been permitted due to the waterfront measures against the new coronavirus, the government is planning to start a demonstration project for group tours by the beginning of June. An announcement will be made by the end of the week. A government official revealed this on June 16. If there are no problems, the government plans to gradually expand the acceptance of tourists.

What’s the demonstration project?

・The purpose of the demonstration project is to verify the effectiveness of infection control measures for group tours.
・The group tourists are expected to be from four countries (the U.S., Australia, Thailand, and Singapore).
・We expect about 10 people from each country, and we will accept them only for a short period of time.
・The destination will be a region that has obtained the consent of the prefectural government and will be accompanied by tour guides from a travel agency.
・The group will be accompanied by an escort from a travel agency.
・Individual tourists will not be accepted for the time being.

It will still be a long way before normal tourists return. I will update you as soon as I have an official announcement!
